The Way We Work

Our Approach

Most law firms tell you what you want to hear. We start by telling you what you need to know.

“A client does not need a lawyer who promises. They need one who prepares, and tells them the truth about their case before the other side does.”

— Gaurav Jaju, Co-Founder

How Every Matter Is Handled

01

Diagnosis before prescription.

The first meeting at J&J Associates is not a sales conversation. It is a focused examination of your facts, your documents, and the other side's likely position. You leave the first meeting knowing what your matter involves, regardless of whether you engage us or not.

02

The weaknesses of your case, before the strengths.

We believe an advocate's first honest duty to a client is to tell them what the other side's lawyer will argue. If we identify weaknesses in your case, and there are always weaknesses, you hear them from us first. An advocate who only tells you what you want to hear is not doing their job.

03

Preparation is the work.

A court hearing is only as good as the preparation behind it. We spend more time at our desks than in courts, reviewing documents, drafting arguments, preparing witnesses, and anticipating the other side's moves. Hearing day is the result of that work, not the work itself.

04

You will always know what is happening.

You receive a post-hearing summary within 24 hours of every court date, what was argued, what the court said, what the next date is, and what it means. You will never have to chase us for information about your own matter.

Commitments We Make to Every Client

We do not promise outcomes.

No advocate can guarantee what a court will decide. We tell you what is likely, what is possible, and what is unlikely, in plain language, without the optimism that benefits the lawyer more than the client.

We do not take matters we cannot handle.

J&J Associates is a focused firm. If a matter is outside our practice areas or requires a specialisation we do not have, we say so, and where possible, refer you to someone who does.

We do not bill for calls that don't happen.

Updates are part of the service, not extras. Post-hearing summaries and responses to client queries are included in how we work, not billed separately as 'consultation time'.

We do not keep matters alive longer than they need to be.

Settlement is always on the table when the terms are fair. Litigation that can be resolved should be resolved, courts are for cases that genuinely cannot be settled.

Talk to us about your matter

A first consultation gives us enough to understand your situation and give you an honest picture of your options.
